A Step Forward: Mason Player Club and Women's Basketball Team Announce NIL Partnership"
The Mason Player Club is excited to announce a exciting partnership with the Mason Women's Basketball Team. This is the team's first formal Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) agreement, paving the path for new opportunities and recognition for women in sports at George Mason University.
This achievement would not have been possible without the kind support and participation of Vaughn International and Sumeet Shrivastava. We extend our sincere gratitude to them for their unwavering support in making this partnership with the Mason Women’s Basketball Team a reality.
“As a lifelong fan of collegiate athletics, I understood the significant problem of a student athletes' ability to generate additional income given the significant amount time they are asked to devote to their craft on top of being a student. I've enjoyed every interaction I've had with the Mason women's basketball team, coaches, and staff, and they are amazing ambassadors for my alma mater. These ladies are part of the university's economic engine, and it only makes sense to me that they should be able to participate in that. As supporters, we must recognize the importance of the collective and how they have established a foundation to offer NIL directly to the student athletes,” said Sumeet Shrivastava, Patriot Nation Collective Board Member and Past-President of the GMU Alumni Association, MBA ’94.
“It’s an honor and a privilege to have the opportunity of working with and serving such a special group of ladies both on and off the court, in having this well-deserved collective as a part of their program. I look forward to continuing the work with the current staff and players in growing the collective for present and future student athletes of the program,” said John Vaughn, CEO of Vaughn International and a George Mason Alumnus who played on the Mason men’s basketball team from 2004-2009.
